Valve finally revealed Counter Strike New after weeks of speculation. It's a major update for CS:GO which will bring it onto the Source 2 engine.

It also introduces the ability to use smoke grenades that respond and sub-tick updates for servers. It's got a lot of armchair gamers going crazy but it is an incredible upgrade for regular players.

Smokes

Counter Strike New is getting an update that will completely change the method of using smokes in the game. These changes, known as responsive smokes, are a game changer. Smokes will now expand to fill in spaces naturally and move around objects on the map. They will also react to the lighting in the games, making them appear more realistic. It's not only about increasing the tick rate also, the micro-tick updates will also reduce input lag and latency by ensuring that the server responds to your actions with no delays or glitches.

Obviously, this is only the beginning of the technological improvements Valve is making to the game. Valve is currently implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve how smoke interacts with the environment, and it's updating all maps with high-resolution lighting, textures, and models. All CS weapons and cosmetics will also get a makeover using Source 2 tools and features.

Maps

The coming update for Counter Strike New will bring new maps to the game alongside some old favorites which are getting facelifts. The updates are currently being tested in limited beta. The first set of maps includes touchstone and upgrade maps that will not see major changes to gameplay, while others have been fully rebuilt or overhauled with the new Source 2 tools.

Italy is a different map that has been revamped. Its lighting, texture, and structure have been significantly improved.
